Buy on TPT →Students can practice 18 questions involving mean absolute deviations, measures of variability with this print-and-go Doodle Math activity. Includes three levels of difficulty. Level 1 focuses on finding the mean, level 2 focuses on finding the mean absolute deviations in smaller data sets, and level 3 focuses on finding the mean absolute deviations in larger data sets. The levels can be assigned independently, or together, which is great for differentiation. This zero prep printable worksheets are great for emergency sub plans, math centers, independent practice, review, math lesson, homework, and bulletin board decorations.
As students solve the levels, they unlock patterns they can doodle in designated spaces to complete a mystery image. At the end of the activity, their solutions become a math masterpiece that's easy to spot-check at a distance. If your students love color by number or color by code, they’ll love Doodle Math!
Standard covered (with focus on measures of variability):
6.SP.B.5c Giving quantitative measures of center (median and/or mean) and variability (interquartile range and/or mean absolute deviation), as well as describing any overall pattern and any striking deviations from the overall pattern with reference to the context in which the data were gathered.
6.SP.A.3 Recognize that a measure of center for a numerical data set summarizes all of its values with a single number, while a measure of variation describes how its values vary with a single number.
7.SP.B.4 Use measures of center and measures of variability for numerical data from random samples to draw informal comparative inferences about two populations.
