1. Digital Winter Themed Pixel Art

What is it?

My students absolutely LOVE these digital Christmas Themed Digital Pixel Art Activities.

Students solve the problems and incrementally unlock a winter-themed picture like a snowman, hot chocolate, Christmas ornaments, or reindeer. The activities have multiple levels, which you can assign on different or together all at once.

Why I love it

Self-grading activities gives me the flexibility to walk around the room to support targeted students! Students get instant feedback on what problems they're getting right and wrong. The answers turn green for correct answers with mystery pixels appearing. The answers turn red for incorrect answers, signaling they need to redo the problem. It works so well that I've started using them as sub plans and the substitute teachers absolutely love these.

Here's some of my favorites for middle school, sorted by grade level. It also includes some freebies:

2. Doodle & Color by Number PDF Worksheets

What is it?

If you have students that love to doodle, you'll love these winter themed math & art worksheets.

Doodle Math is a fresh twist on color-by-number or color-by-code, with more creative freedom on the resulting Christmas themed and winter themed image. Simply print out a worksheet relevant to the topic that you're covering in class. Your students will solve problems and unlock doodle patterns that they can doodle in the color of their choice.

Why I love it

My kids love doodling and coloring. I love that they're secretly practicing math. There's tons of seasonal versions for different holidays, including Christmas and winter holiday celebrations!

Students have fun coming up with their own unique way to doodle in the picture as they solve math problems. Students walk out of class with a math masterpiece, and they look great when hung up on the walls. There's plenty for nearly every CCSS topic and middle school grade level.

Here are my top 10 favorites:

Need a different topic? I have a ton more of these in my Winter & Christmas section.

3. Guided Notes with Doodles & Colors

What is it?

It's a set of graphic guided notes with plenty of room to doodle and color as students learn and practice a new math topic. It's seriously the most effective way to introduce a lesson to students. It’s also versatile enough that you can use this any time of the year.

Honestly, these doodle-style guided notes are perfect all year round. The example below showcased prime factorization, but you can pick any guided notes for some serious math fun!

Why I love it

This activity mixes art and math. Not only does it include comprehensive notes, it also include fun mazes activities, color by number worksheets, and a real life application section. To read more about my guided notes, check out why I love graphic guided notes with doodles.

It's an incredibly exciting and all inclusive lesson - give it a try today!
