Warm-Ups

Icebreaker warm-ups pair a short math problem with an icebreaker prompt — a get-to-know-you question or a quick creative challenge — so students warm up the room along with their skills. Sets run daily for several weeks at a time, aligned to CCSS, and are built for the first five to ten minutes of class: attendance, homework check, and the transition into today's lesson.

Coverage runs 5th through 8th grade, weighted toward the topics that carry the most weight in the middle school sequence: ratios and rates, fraction and decimal operations, integers, expressions and equations, area and volume, and statistics and probability. A handful are built differently — end-of-year review sets that trade the icebreaker for straight CCSS test prep across a full grade's standards.
